This is hard to explain so please excuse me if I accidently fall off the PC platform or get too graphic.

We know that Jamie and John's relationship is never going to happen the way John wants, but it isn't just that Jamie is straight. John could love Jamie from afar without having his heart ripped to shreds except for one small fact... John knows that his physical attraction to Jamie disgusts him. It's one thing to suffer unrequited love; it's another to know you are so revolting to someone you care for that that person would rather be flogged than be near you. Especially when Jamie must seem like the perfect Harmony.com match to John. So at this point, John's wishing to have never met Jamie is a very normal reaction.

Onto Percy...

Unlike John, who's relationships have been of his own choice and the fact that John grew up in a safer and more stable environment, Percy is damaged goods, a male whore, who had to sell himself to support his mother. (How many sexual-predators do you think the poor lad encountered during his youth? Makes me shudder to think about it.) Percy does tell John some of his history, obviously enough added with his actions, that John knows Percy can't and isn't going to be trustworthy simply because Percy really doesn't believe he has a choice when someone else comes onto him strongly. Be hard to hate a guy for that.

But does John love him? Yes, without a doubt, even if he realized it too late.

John is a normal, healthy homosexual, but Percy isn't, because he's been taken advantage of to the point that anal sex (performed on his body) isn't something individual any more. For John it's a different matter; it's still an intimacy that he would only willing allow or ask for (which he did) with someone he truly cared deeply for.

Hope I didn't offend anyone.
