That morning after scene in the brothel was one of my very FAVORITE Harry and Nessie moments, they are two of my favorite "minor" characters in the Lord John books! How Nessie's "mouth twisted in revulsion" at the thought of bedding the red eyed, disheveled Harry. Lord John's though that she "really had no tact, for a whore". Then John telling Harry he didn't think he'd like her because she was "Scotch". John really liked them both and was sort of protecting them from eachother, quite touching really.
