I think there's an evident attraction between LJ and von Namtzen. It's worth noting, though, that in the 18th and early 19th centuries, it was very common for men (especially gentlemen) to have "particular friends." The gender roles kept men and women from usually having an intimate relation other than sex, but men could and did share pretty much everything *except* sex with intimate male friends. LJ himself notes that nobody would think twice about him and Percy going out in the evenings in public. I think that's why he doesn't know what the nature of von Namtzen's attraction is, unless or until Stephan makes a definite physical move or declaration.
