Yes, of course, I agree that Geneva was spirited. Jamie saw it as willful and spoiled, but then given his position of forced submission he would. I actually felt a little more tenderly toward her in this book. I was touched with her coming into John's room as a child afraid of the dark. You had to admire her being able to smile and hold her baby after such a horrific birth experience only to die a few hours later (bravely hanging on so that she could see her father and sister just one more time). The prospect of being "sold" to the old man and being his property must have been horrifying to a young girl like that. Small wonder she freaked. I'm not certain I wouldn't have blackmailed a hottie in my employ (one I was already very attracted to) thinking I'd at least have something to fantasize about when I had to do it with a man old enough to be my grandfather. -- LJG Discussion board
