Subject: Yes, I was really struck at how savage he could be....sticking that blade in the guy's eyes. Wow! I remember in DOA, when he was sick at the ridge alone with Claire, and that man came to the door. Lord John stepped out (as a soldier) to confront him or defend Claire. It just didn't ring true to me that he could defend her, I just didn't *see* that soldier in him. Boy, next time I read DOA, I will completely see a different John.
