When I really thought about it I decided she must have left France before J&C got there. John only spent 2 years in Scotland, he'd have been 14 when he got back to England. I suppose she must have returned then two years BEFORE the rising and at least year before J&C would have come to France. - Yes, Benedicta must have gone back to London to be with John when he returned at 14. This would have been two years before John went to join his brother (and meet Hector and discover who he was in terms of his sexuality). Jamie left France the early autumn the year before. Jamie had been in prison and later in Spain since May of that year before he left. Not much chance that he and John's mother met there. ;-) Charles left late the following spring for Scotland so it was almost another year before Jamie met John at Prestonpans and over a year since he'd left France.
