Subject: This whole section is food for thought. Percy's looking at Lord John with an expression between awe and revulsion was pretty much my reaction to Lord John. The "essential truth" struck me also. I understand John feeling a duty to his men, but is there more to it? Duty to king? Or is this an echo of Jamie's advice to Roger that there is no such thing as fair fighting, the object is to win and anything goes. And does barley water really help cure eye trouble?
In reply to: Oleander 's message, "Taken from Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade, chapter24, pg 320 "'That,' he added, his tone offhand as he turned to dip the cloth again, 'and that i am proud of you." Alarmed and stirred buy the kiss, deeply embarrassed at the praise- and not a little shocked that Percy did not instinctively perceive the essentual truth of the matter- Grey began to say the obvious: it was his duty."" on 18:59:28 09/06/07 Thu
