Author: Oleander
Subject: I kind of took it that Jaime was p.o'ed because he didn't like to be reminded of that aspect of his relationship with John...does that make sense?
In reply to: Conmama 's message, "I actually love that particular scene. My take on it was that he was mad at John not for it actually hurting Claire (because I don't think that would really hurt her), but because it was just an inappropriate, rude remark and embarrassed Jamie. Now, I've been known to get scenes entirely wrong, so as I said, this was just my take on it." on 10:46:47 09/07/07 Fri

  • Conmama, I think both you and Oleander have the scene on the Ridge pegged. But I'd not thought John was being petty. I just thought he was nervous about coming unannounced, he had to be worried that Willy might recognize Mac, so he arrived already in a state. Then Claire's glass face tells him exactly what her reaction is, so he was flustered and committed a social faux pas. He was maybe as shocked as Claire and Jamie were that he'd done that. But it's an interesting question. Would you start a new thread and cite a couple of examples from the new book where John struck you as petty? (I'm worried that this is getting far down on the board that others may miss it) (NT) -- Carol P, 13:13:28 09/07/07 Fri

  • You are correct...and Claire was rude to him first. His comment struck me as more of a knee-jerk reaction. And I thoroughly agree with Oleander...Jamie didn't like to be reminded of John's feelings for him...especially stated so explicity. (NT) -- Conmama, 05:06:24 09/08/07 Sat

  • A couple years ago Diana wrote a brilliant message about Jamie, Claire, and John's relationship. I liked it so much that saved the link..here it is if you care to see it. You'll have to paste it into your server, it didn't show up as a link in my preview. http://community.compuserve.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?msg=50820.3&nav=messages&webtag=ws-books (NT) -- Jane, 09:20:23 09/08/07 Sat
