Subject: Just finished Brotherhood, and I'm ready to re-read it again soon. As usual, I burned through it , even though I swore that I would not. A few thoughts: I am very pleased with the opportunity to delve into into Hal's personality, and especially that of their mother, Benedicta. (shades of Auntie Jocasta, but with more heart?). Lord John's toughness, courage and sense of familial honor is beautifully portrayed, along with his feisty side in bedscenes with Percy. I also very much like the details of a gentleman's life in his time. Interestingly, his last visit with James at first puts them at even greater opposite poles than ever, but Jamie does help him in the end. I believe that that particular encounter will be the beginning of an actual friendship between them.
