The network war rages on—in San Francisco!
Tomorrow, rivals ABS-CBN 2 and GMA 7 will bring the network wars
outside the Philippines, specifically to San Francisco, California.
The so-called "battle" will, of course, extremely delight
the expat Pinoys in the area, for it will bring in several
of the networks' premiere shows and talents in two huge
California venues.
The Lopez-owned network will hold for the second Saturday (Sunday in
the Philippines) its musical variety show ASAP 2005 at the Monster
Park Fairgrounds in San Francisco. On July 16, ABS-CBN 2 held the
show at the Rosebowl Stadium in Pasadena, Los Angeles, California.
ASAP 2005 is hosted by Kuh Ledesma, Vina Morales, Martin Nievera,
Zsa Zsa Padilla, Piolo Pascual, and Gary Valenciano. Many of ABS-CBN
2's major stars, as well as the young ones, will be in the show.
Aside from ASAP 2003, ABS-CBN 2 will also telecast from San
Francisco the showbiz talk show The Buzz, which is hosted by Kris
Aquino, Boy Abunda, and Cristy Fermin, with segment hosts Anne
Curtis, AJ Dee and Chokoleit.
Boy Abunda is also scheduled to interview in The Buzz the Superstar
Nora Aunor, who will face a Los Angeles court on July 25 to face her
drug charges. The LA police held Aunor on April 1 after finding the
illegal drug methamphetamine on her hand carry bag.

It was reportedly to ensure high ratings in this Sunday's
The Buzz that Aunor was not interviewed on camera right after
she sang "People" at Rosebowl. The stiff competition between
the ABS-CBN and GMA almost assures that Aunor will only be
seen in the shows of one network —even as both network's
shows will be held in just one city.
SOP, GMA 7's noontime show on Sundays, will be held at the Billy
Graham Civic Center in San Francisco. It is regularly hosted by Ogie
Alcasid, Janno Gibbs, Jaya, and Regine Velasquez. As of press time,
though, a report has it that Regine has not been issued a working
permit for that particular show.
Both ABS-CBN 2 and GMA 7 now telecast their shows in the US. GMA 7
has just launched the GMA Pinoy TV, while the Lopez-owned network
has been airing its shows in the US and other parts of the world
though the 10-year-old The Filipino Channel.
