Actually, Lake Superior seldom freezes all the way accross. It takes a LOT of 'cold' to cool off and freeze that big of a lake. It did freeze over a couple years ago, but it is the exception rather than the rule. (FYI, all 5 lakes have only frozen over twice since records have been kept). If you want ice, head for Lake Erie, that sucker always freezes over (it's shallow w/ comparitively low volume).
