I know what you mean, Elizabeth. We had copies of "The Moon's a Balloon" *and* "Bring on the Empty Horses" in the house when I was a kid, and I never realized there was a chapter on RN in the latter book because it didn't have an index at the back, whereas "Moon" did. It never occurred to me that Niven would have devoted a whole chapter to Robert Newton, so I never even looked at the table of contents ... plus I wasn't much of a reader back then. Still, you'd think my mom or my sister would have told me since they'd read both books! Maybe they didn't want me to know about his "bad-boy" side. (Best line: "Put it on my mother's charge account at Sears, Roebuck"!)
