Happy Birthday to Robert Newton. Wish he was still with us (at least I wish he had been with us longer than he was--I realize it would have been quite an accomplishment to live to 101!). I did see 'Desert Rats' the other day on AMC (at least I got to see part of it--near the end). I have recently watched 'Farewell Again' and 'The Derelicts'. I just got a copy of 'Farewell Again'. Very briefly, the plot involves a 6 hour leave granted to British servicemen aboard a ship following a tour of duty in India. Of course, they all have some domestic issue awaiting them at home. RN's concern is whether the girlfriend that he left behind is waiting for him on his return. The movie is 'dated' and a little hard to pay complete attention to in today's world but it was worth it to see RN again(handsome too).
I would like to see some network do a Robert Newton marathon. It seems they do John Wayne, Bette Davis, Humphrey Bogart, etc... why not Robert Newton??? Oh, and Susan, I like the 'Night Boat to Dublin' page. Really nice.
Everyone take care and keep the Newton flame burning.

Hi Everyone,

I know this post is late, but I've been experiencing quite a bit of problems with my ISP over the last month. I would like to offer everyone belated Robert Newton birthday wishes. As Sue G. stated, I wish he was still here with us. His contributions to film and his legendary acting will always be remembered.

Recently, I watched "Around the World in 80 Days." I loved the way R.N. played the role of Detective Fix.

Your friend,
Trisha :-)
