Having recently had the opportunity to view They Flew Alone in which RN stars alongside Anna Neagle, I found that I wanted to watch it again and again and I agree with your review about it being one of the best romantic scenes when RN dances and proposes to Amy. It would be great to see some pictures on your site in the future of this film as I think that RN looks sophisticated and very handsome in his dinner jacket! I am just reading a book about Amy Johnson and apparently, Anna Neagle who played her was a good friend of hers for many years. Unfortunately, the book does not give a favourable review of RN's portrayal of Jim Mollison which I totally disagreed with! Keep up the brilliant work on your fantastic site.

Hi, Heather. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the movie and for your compliments on the site. :-) I should have some pictures from They Flew Alone to put on the page soon--stay tuned! I'm curious what the book said about Robert Newton's performance. I'll probably disagree too, but it would be interesting to get a different perspective.

The author said that RN's acting scene in the restaurant when he proposes was 'camped up' and probably very far off the truth which it probably was. Films of people's lives are always glossed over and have to be loosely based because the actual event was probably quite the opposite. The author by the way was male, and completely missed the romance of the scene obviously!
