IN regards to what Amanda said I do not think solo auditions should be in front of everyone or that they should have a say. The choir director will choose the best for that solo, and they will have to perform the solo infront of the group eventually so its not like they will never sing it infront of people until the performance. You could hold open auditions, who ever wants the solo come in and sing it while the rest of the people who also want the solo sit and listen until it is their turn, so they get a feeling for singing infront of people but its not an overwhelming amount of people yet.
