She smiled, patting the young dragon before settling next to her and pulling out her oil cloth. The dragonet lay her head across the rider's lap, anxious for her scales to be rubbed. In a few days, maybe a little over a week, the Dragon Growth would occur, and the 7 feet long dragonets [from tail to tip] would grow to the next stage, Lairster, at a whopping 20 feet in length. Then their combat training would begin, for both rider and dragon. It was only when they had reached 25 feet that the rider would be allowed to ride the dragon, which usually occured between 8mths and 12mths.
