She scrambled backwards until she was flat against the cave wall.

It was unclear exactly what he'd done, but his spirit came whooshing out of Keira's body along with a few wisps of malevolent black smoke that curled into the air and dissipated. His own form flickered slightly, and he suddenly realized that this time his disappearance from the mortal plane would be... permanent.

"MALIKAR!" Keira shrieked. Kinapp bugled her distress, watching 'Kar's spirit-dragon start to waver as well. "DO SOMETHING!!!" she screamed at Tilana.
