Thanks for the kind words! :)

I failed to consider that a member of the middle class can be as affected by class constructions as I have been. I am always so critical of the women's movement, especially in that it tends, at times, to be so exclusive. I feel hypocritical now...

I am working as a 'nanny' for a wealthy city family. I go in every morning to an immaculate house and three perfect children who seem to know more of the world than I do. They have been on real vacations; they are confident and sociable; they are being educated at an expensive, private school. Yet nature, to them, is a walk in the paved park. They have never slept in the barn to make sure the newborn calf survives the night. They fall asleep to the sound of car horns and sirens instead of crickets and distant howling wolves. Which of us is being cheated? Which of us is missing out?

They are wealthy and refined; I am a working-class farm girl with zero self-confidence. I have to wonder.
