Being a 13yo kid, I didn't have a place to feel LGBT-welcome back then. I mean, I was in a few other communities, such as a 'South Park' message board, in which I was a moderator, and also I had my close-knit guild in World of Warcraft (Jesus...Burning Crusade was just released! Time flies!) But those communities were not exactly LGBT-friendly for the MOST part. (A lot of gay jokes!). It wasn't until a few years later, I actually joined a LGBT guild in WOW. But yeah, this place absolutely brought me out of my shell. When I was 15/16, I joined a 'Rainbow Youth' support group up in North Jersey and made my first gay real life friends, and when I was in college at 18 in 2012, I joined a gay club on my campus. But this site started it all. I cannot say if I would have still been closeted had I not found The Shack, but it absolutely helped. (My coming out story is for another time, and what a story! It's worthy of a Nifty story, trust me! lmao)

And now, 13 years later it's so awesome to still be here. I must confess I am not attracted to young boys, because as I aged my tastes aged with me (although there's nothing wrong with me hooking up with a 19 year old twink now and then! lol. But...not for a relationship. Been there, done that, wont ever again! haha), so there are times I feel like I do not have much to contribute in that regard. However, that being said, I do absolutely have great respect and admiration for today's youth culture, which is something I know everyone here shares. I know it sounds cliche, but the youth is the future for the continuing of our species AND our planet. I think it's so awesome that kids today are even freer to embrace their sexual preference in a way that's much more freeing than even for me in 2007! (Although, when I was in middle school, here in NJ, believe it or not, bisexuality among emos was very VERY in and hip). I always say that the next generation should have a more progressive society than the one before it, and I am glad to see the world is opening up in that regard. Places like this keeps that spirit alive. It's hard to put into words.
