I regret having to miss the Empire States last weekend, but I will be at the NYSVIII this weekend in Binghamton and should be providing many, many photos from the prejudging through the finals in the evening. I am looking forward to an awesome show and many great images. They will be posted at www.rickabt.photoreflect.com at resonable prices. You can also call me at 410-804-5164. There will be a discount for those prepaying for a CD at the show. And if you find yourself in front of a computer with nothing better to do, check out my other portfolio site at www.rickabt.com . See you in Binghamtom!!!

Thanks! -- Sammy C. #34, 15:21:46 10/05/08 Sun [6]
To All -
Just a quick thank you to everyone at the show all day yesterday. In my three years in the sport, this was my best day - from the show, to the comraderie at lunch (and all throughout the day), to the laughs back stage, to my own conditioning (that's the best I get). I have met some great people and have enjoyed the ride! A special "Thanks" to Halz for your dedication to the sport.
I'll be back in about 2-3 years when I'm 40 and I can compete as a solid middleweight. I need at least 10 lbs and some better, non-running legs...I still have some scores to settle in the marathon world as well as take care of 4 kids at home! Bodybuilding has assisted tremendously in my marathon training thus far. So until I can focus 100% on BB, there's no use in standing up there as a 5'10 lightweight...I look silly.
Some of the new and younger guys were awesome last night but I am most impressed by the 35 and older guys that just keep looking better year after year...that's where I need to be and I will one day. You guys are an inspiration.
Again - great time yesterday and good luck to everyone in Bingo and beyond! I just hope some of you guys are still around when I come back in 2-3 years! Until then, maybe I'll stir things up on the board a bit and see you at some shows. Great sport, great people, great time!

PS: To the lunch crew...I told you a few beers wouldn't hurt anyone! LOL

We are ready to blast off Empire States -- halzman, 05:16:39 09/29/08 Mon [28]
Excited? We are!We are going to kick this show off in 5 days.Looks like a great show on tap. Figure seems a little down & travelers, but overall we have some kick ass competition Saturday. We have more women bodybuilders than figure..yeah I did write that. Every men's class in the open is full at this point except the heavyweights. Hopefully that will change by Saturday. there is enough in the open to make this a pro qualifying event.Novice men's will be two classes. 14 total at this point. I will be sending a email to all competitors wed. Ck in will be Saturday because we want to keep the competitors # sequenced. I will have my sis post the directions on the front page as a link.Tickets are $20 per which includes both events.
NYS VIII so far 5 men's pros confirmed.

He won because someone we all know failed there drug test.Gee couldnt have guessed that one when he was sitting in the pump up area dwarfing four other pros. Who's next to fail? Misc questions... -- Sammy C. #34, 13:26:43 09/19/08 Fri [12]
Halz or Doug -
The lightweight cut off is 155, correct? Does 155 on the mark get you there or does it have to be under...I forgot. Also, can you register the day of the show/s? When is the latest possible weigh in time? How are the classes shaping up as it relates to lights and middles? I really have no idea if I am showing up in 2 weeks or 3 weeks or both, as I have tons of work travel between now and then.
Any bbonehead who wants to find something to rip me about regarding the above message - save your wind for more cardio and be prepared ro bring your "A" game to the stage. If I'm standing on either stage in SYR or BINGO, I will be ready - trust me on this one.
There...it's out there...let the fireworks begin! This board has been lame considering there are 2/3 weeks left to the shows!
Best of luck to all!

Could the economy be effecting shos in the near future? -- halzman, 02:47:05 09/19/08 Fri [9]
Has anyone noticd that two shows in the northeast this fall have cancelled because they didnt have evnough competitors. Is this a sign that actually gas prices are starting to take a toll in bodybuilding?Average bodybuilder usually makes a good living. Are they thinking twice before traveling 5 hours to a show? I think what the promoter will have to do is make some sort of cut in entry fees to make at least a little dent in travel expenses. We will have to try to make our money at the door to recoup expenses of the venue etc. There are many shows that charge 50 or 60 to enter. 50 more for drug screening. 50 more for membership. Membership is fine. It last a year so we can pay the one shot deal and not worry. Drug screening? I think cuts can be mad here. I really dont see how the examiner has a ton of overhead. We pay for his room.Entry? Well this is were the USBF NYS & NJ shows have pulled threw. We offer the early bird special for $25 . Hey your saving $50 if you enter two classes. For the pros traveling we give a discount too. Hopefully this will keep the NYS shows attractive & affordable enough to make the decision in the 2009 season. I think the longer this gas gouging goes on the more your gonna notice smaller shows in some venues.I was shocked to see two shows cancel in the North east. Any thoughts?

Jersey Shore Natural II 9/13 wrap up -- Kent, 22:47:06 09/16/08 Tue [5]
Wow, what a show! 76 competitors. I want to thank all of you for coming and supporting natural bodybuilding in New Jersey. Thanks to my judges, Steve P, Kerrie, Chris, Pete, Veronica, Pete, Casey, Jason, Bill, Rick, Sheila, and Mel. You guys did a great job with tough decisions. I also want to thank all the sponsors: ABB/ON, Vitamin Shoppe, East Coast Muscle, Goode Body Nutrition, Image Sun, and of course our main sponsor, Cellucor. The pro classes were outstanding, 12 men, 5 figure, and 4 women bbing. The men's promasters was a who's who in natural bodybuilding. The figure classes were crazy with 14 girls in the novice class and two very tough classes in the open. The men's open was also deep in talent with an NPC regular taking the top prize. All the masters classes were great and of course, Ed Cole brought the house down again. It was an honor to give out the Neal Grossman Perseverance Award to Neal Grossman. He is a class act and has come along way since being diagnosed with prostate cancer. Also thanks to Brian Evans, who filled in valiantly as the MC. Also thanks to DJ Frank. I didn't have to tell him to change the music once.
Once again you guys were all great and very patient. I know what it is like to have to wait to go onstage. I really appreciate you coming and I hope you will put our show next April and September on your calendars as can't miss.
I also want to thank Mike Halsey for giving me the Lifetime Achievement Award. I was really taken back by this award. It was great to receive it in front of my friends and family. Thanks to all of you.

Bored yet again, actually ended up buying XBOX360 and gears of war so now I am killing crap in my spare time. GREAT way to pass time and take out the dieting aggressions. If one more person pulls the B.S. of "Oh, you can eat it this one time, just because it's breaded, it won't hurt you" I'm going to smack the crap out of them. Halzman, I'm getting my app to you hopefully tomorrow. Who all is in? Is Big Ben coming? Ryan Boatman? Duffy? Rolando? Steve P.? Kunkle? I say we should hook up a huge propane heater backstage at drivers village. Anyways, off to bed, I HATE getting up at 3:50am... morning shift blows...

Jersey Shore Natural II 9/13 -- Kent, 05:23:38 09/12/08 Fri [1]
Wow Guys,
Only a few days left until the second Jersey Shore Natural. Right now we have over 60 applications in and i know of about 10 more coming. You guys are great!!! What a turnout for our second fall show. The promasters looks great. Pro figure and womens pro bodybuilding(that's right) should be interesting. It's still not too late. I will be taking apps right up until the start of the comps meeting at 1030am.
To make everything run smoothly saturday morning try to take advantage of the early checkin at Pure Focus Sports Club located at 163 Van Zile Rd, Brick, NJ. The number there is 7328405393. Checkin will be from 7-9pm. The registartion begins at 9am the next morning at Brick Memorial High School at 2001 Lanes Mill Rd, Brick, NJ. We ran into a little issue with the school football team so I ask that all competitors please head back to the pump up room upon entering the building. We will have staff there to direct you. I also ask that you be as quiet as possible while entering because the football team will be using the auditorium until 11am to review the films from the previous nights game. I don't want to piss them off or we will not be able to use the school next time. Now, the prejudge is supposed to start at 1130am so we will try to start as close to that as possible. I would guess 1145ish. Nobody will be able to get in the auditorium until the football team leaves and it gets set up for the show. I will have a large team to jump on it as soon as they are out. As some of you know, the pump up room is a cafeteria and there is plenty of room so nobody will be cramped. I also ask that nobody go outside once they are in the building except by way of the main entrance and fully clothed. Please no posing suits outside. The neighbors have big eyes. It took me months of kissing butt to get the school back after an issue from our first show. Anybody found breaking this request will be disqualified from the show. Sorry, have to say it. Another rule set by the school is that there is to be no food are drink in the auditorium. It is a brand new carpet. So please be smart, clean up after yourselves, don't leave garbage in the aisles and please don't spill anything. During registration bodybuilders will be weighed in wearing posing suits only, so please have them on. If you don't have USBF card you can get it at registration. After prejudging I have arranged to have lunch at Cluck U. It is located right down the street from the gym. It will consist of chicken, rice, sweet pototoes, broccoli, and a drink. This is free to all competitors, judges, vendors, and volunteers. Your friends and family can get this for only $6. It has worked out good in the past and I highly recommend it. Also after the show, I would like everyone to go to PJs Pizza for some good Italian food. It is in the same mall as the gym. Sorry, I am not paying for this one but uit is reasonably priced. I have also attached information in regards to a company that will be on hand Friday night as well as Saturday morning for spray tanning. I have seen the test colors she has done and it looks great. Dream tan will also be available at the gym for those of you who like to use that. It is only $20. I think that's it.
Here is the schedule:
9/12 7-9pm early checkin Pure Focus Sports Club
9/13 7:30am show set up at High School
9am final registration
1030am competitors meeting
1130am prejudging
after prejudging lunch at Cluck U.
445pm competitors meeting
530pm night show
all competitors will do their routines
guest poser
awards
PJs Pizza
If anybody has any questions please call me, 7322136537(cell) or 7328405393(gym), or email me, krb46@comcast.net
I am very excited about this show and I am looking forward to seeing everybody there. Thanks in advance for your participation and for supporting natural bodybuilding.

Nam Le finshed first in the NPC Tri State and yeah Halzman finished 5th in the open lightheavys at the same show.Kents pics are up on Muscular development.com . He looks crazy in the glute & hamstrings.
