Hi!
For prelims, contestants compete in evening wear, casual wear, and talent, but at the state and international levels there is also an interview portion of the competition. Usually the woman division is quite small. We typically only have about 1 or 2 contestants at prelims and at state. At internationals last year, there were 30 woman contestants. Prizes for prelims include a trophy, crown, and banner. For state, prizes include trophy, crown, banner, robe, scepter, and a cash award (for woman division only - the others receive scholarships). The amount of the award depends on the number of contestants in the woman division. As a state titleholder, you are required to attend internationals in July which is held in Dallas, the state pageant the following year to give up your title, and you are also expected to attend the prelims throughout the year.
