We must remember that as believers, in Christ Jesus, we walk in the Spirit and not after the flesh. Rock music stirs up the flesh and this applies to any music that stirs up the flesh-- whether it is honky tonk country or techno, etc. A believer in the flesh is not walking after the Spirit. As Christians, we worship IN SPIRIT and in truth so how if people are swaying their hips to a hypnotic drum beat can they be worshipping from the inner man? Traditional church music or hymns is not after the flesh.

Therefore the flesh should not play a part in the worship service. We CANNOT worship God in the flesh but in the Spirit.

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Ephesians 5:18-21 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
