Do ponto de vista da motiva��o diria eu que n�o; do ponto de vista da interpreta��o/reconhecimento de estruturas ling��sticas diria eu que sim.

A leitura em sua sala de aula � usada para construir conhecimento, para promover intera��o, para experi�ncia est�tica, ou � um mero pretexto para aprender esse ou aquele ponto gramatical ou ainda para treinar pron�ncia?

A leitura deve trazer para o aluno de LE al�m de possibilidade de contato com estruturas peculiares a uma segunda l�ngua, divers�o e/ou informa��es. O est�mulo (falo como aluno de LE agora) adv�m e muito da tipologia textual que nos s�o oferecidas. Nesse sentido, faz-se necess�rio �casar� entretenimento e conte�do propriamente dito.

Essa atividade � �tima para se treinar vocabul�rio, pois pede que o aluno complemente (se ele quiser) suas escolhas, mas tamb�m � boa para desenvolver a leitura pois, primeiro, ele deve entender o que est� escrito no card�pio.

Eu concordo, mas acho que uma tarefa assim seria mais interessante se fosse dada em uma lanchonete, em um restaurante, ou num ambiente que simulasse um lugar desses. (Terezinha).
Cremos (Luz e V�nia) que a simula��o seria por si s� v�lida, embora o ideal seja �estar de fato� num bar/restaurante.

Essa atividade n�o � muito interessante, pois se o aluno sabe o significado das palavras, ele n�o precisa ser um bom leitor do idioma para realiz�-la. Ele s� precisa saber onde vai o qu�, e ele pode fazer isso s� pelo significado.

(V�nia): essa tarefa, para mim, tamb�m n�o � interessante. O motivo que voc� alegou acima pode ser v�lido, mas esse mesmo fato pode confundir o aluno, quando dado em contextos n�o comuns. Acho que tamb�m tem pegadinhas. Veja bem:
1O : Cranberry, por ex. � uma palavra de uso n�o comum entre n�s. Berry, me leva a pensar em fruta. Quando vou ao dicion�rio, o significado dessa palavra em portugu�s � arando. Voc� conhece "arando"? Nem eu. N�o encontrei isso no dicion�rio de portugu�s. Eu escrevi cranberry na coluna dos vegetable, porque no dicion�rio de ingl�s, arando serve para fazer molho que acompanha carnes
2� Eu coloquei tamb�m granola como vegetable. Acho que errei. Voc� n�o citou granola. Como granola" � alimento matinal composto de aveia e outros cereais, peda�os de frutas secas, am�ndoas, castanha-do-par�, passas, a��car mascavo, etc"., acho que melhor seria inclu�-la na coluna meat, pois � um alimento processado
( se a id�ia de meat for comida)
3� Voc� escreveu apenas o bacon na coluna meat.
Eu colocaria tamb�m (com a id�ia de alimento, refei��o) : coffee na tea, feta casseroles, , poppy seed muffins, cheese cake.
4� o cheese cake poderia ser meat e tamb�m made of milk?
5� orange e kiwi s�o fruit.
Como j� disse, meu ingl�s n�o � bom. Se eu tiver falado bobagem, me mande o pux�o de orelha.

 Description of Cottage
The natural setting is breathtaking for this private bed and breakfast guest cottage deep in Salt Creek Canyon at the foot of Case Mountain. Fitting snugly in the hillside, the Cottage has an open floor plan and was designed and built in 1985 as a special home for Elsah's Grandma. Grandma's favorite color of blue is found in the dishes, carpets, linens and furniture (1). A panoramic half-circle window frames (2) the Sierra Nevada Foothills and meadow outside, and provides a magnificent framing for the star-studded night sky and the full moon rise from behind the mountains across the canyon. The outside deck is made from the circular bottom of a large redwood wine vat. A grape arbor shades the deck in summer months. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking or just enjoying snacks, with the outside flower bed (3) at the level of the kitchen window at the sink. There is a queen-size bed, with down comforter in the bedroom area and a futon couch in the living room which opens to a full-size bed. A TV with VCR, equipped with cable TV, and a stereo with a CD player is also found in the living room (4). A distinctive library of books and magazines are available for thoughtful browsing. Essa atividade � interessante. Para realiz�-la, o aluno deve ter uma certa "flu�ncia" na leitura do idioma em quest�o, assim como conhecer o vocabul�rio proposto (pelo menos uma boa parte dele). Desse modo, a atividade auxilia na leitura e na aquisi��o de vocabul�rio.

Nessas duas atividades, as respostas parecem esta bem "na cara". O aluno que l� os textos, identifica nas frases elementos dos textos. Ele n�o precisa ser muito "fluente" em leitura, basta ver quais as palavras dos textos aparecem nas respostas.

O ensino de leitura:
Ensinar leitura n�o se restringe apenas a textos. Os alunos devem ter um conhecimento da l�ngua falada, para que possam ler figuras, fazer infer�ncias de textos escritos, orais, s�mbolos e figuras. O ensino de leitura n�o deve se restringir � sala de aula. Os alunos devem ser incentivados a ler revistas, livros ou, at� mesmo, sin�pses de v�deos (aqueles resumos que encontramos atr�s das fitas de vhs) para praticar
