Regarding the teaching of grammar there are basically two approaches that can be seen in the books we checked.
One is the traditonal going to the board and dicecting the language and then trying to put it into use.
This approach seem to be "necessary" as a crutch for adult learners. They seem to find comfort in seeing things on the board, but the practical result is not very positive in most cases unless the teacher goes beyond that.
Going beyond is the second approach which is bringing the language to the student's reality - the communicative approach.
Some good activities in that direction can be found in HEADWAY, ON TARGET and ENGLISH FILE, but there are some that must be adapted to be closer to the student's necessities.
