In reply to: Johan and Tiani 's message, "here we come to save the day" on 01/11/05 7:21:11pm Tue

Lashana stood, daggers held flat against her forearms rather than pointed outwards, forest green wings half spread and bladed as she placed herself between Janai and her daughter. Anger bled away from her, leaving her with a detached calm that helped her focus on the task at hand. Her voice however was still icy, anger flowing through it like cold water. "Your first mistake Prophet was threatening me. If you'd asked instead of threatening I might have helped you willingly. Then you went after my daughter. The first I could forgive, but not the second. No one threatens my children.....no one." The cavern walls hummed with energy in response to Lashana's anger, the earth poised to strike if the treerunner called it. She didn't move however, not yet.

Janai stood, her body loose and her mind focused. She felt a shift somewhere and knew that things would turn against her if she didn't hurry, he voice calm and soothing as she spoke and her green eyes locked on Lashana's "I never threatened your daughter. If I have to fight you I will, but I really need you to come to Idlefalls with me to help the humans." Janai could see that the woman underestimated her, probably due to her human heritage, humans in this world had no real strength, "Lashana, I would prefer not to hurt you in front of Yomi..."

"You went after my child Prophet, whether you actively threatened her or not she was still terrified and you did harm to those that watched her. Do not bother to deny it either, I can read the dwarves signatures in the Weave." Violet eyes regarded Janai for a moment before stone pillars erupted from the ground, each at differing heights. The cavern might be high enough for bats to easily fly but not for her, there was no wind, no currents of air strong enough to support actual flight, though gliding would work. Moving fluidly Lashana surged up the stepping stones, each one grumbling as it sank back into the ground. When she reached the highest point she curled her wings slightly for maximum gliding and dove at Janai. Her daggers wouldn't strike a killing blow, flat against her forearms as they were, but the slashing attacks she could do would be painful. The only way such an attack could kill would be if she somehow managed to strike the throat. Such a shot was highly unlikely though, and this attack was more feint than anything else. It would give Lashana at least some measure of how good this woman was....... and if the worst happened and it looked like she would not win she could always retreat. That at least was one option that Prophet could not take away from her.

As it all began to happen Janai, watched with her magic burning inside her wanting nothing more then a release. As the dive began Janai's left hand rose quickly like in a graceful wave motion, following it was the ripple of magic causing a gust of wind meant to catch the wings of the Forgotten woman a push her away. Then her right hand rose and a second burst rippled through the wind aimed to throw the woman back into her own pillars.

Lashana mentally tsked, if wind was Prophet's form of attack it could be countered. Folding her wings tight against her body she let the first blast of wind hold her up as it drove her back towards her own pillar. It was the last one and hadn't sunk back into the earth yet. If she struck it would hurt like hell but apparently Janai didn't know just how sharp a forgotten's wings were. As the wind blew her backwards she slammed out her left wing, shearing through the pillar like it was soft clay and let the pillar tumble towards Janai. As she completed her spin she caught her bare feet on the smooth edge of the still standing pillar and ran down the thick column, body hurtling towards Janai again. The woman was good and briefly Lashana wondered if she was more than just human.

Janai fought back the urge to use her Phoenix magic, she pushed it down deep and focused on another form. She began to wish that she was like her father and gifted with Dragon Magic as well as the Phoenix magic... She cursed inside and her imagined flaws and felt the voices, again she cursed she had invoked the BloodBond without thinking. Before the bond to could truely begin she focused again, the air around her rippled and her body surged forward and disappeared into the stone, reappearing for only a moment as she fused herself now with the air. The magic within her made her air form ripple in the weave just as she reappeared behind Lashana wings of air holding her and propelling her forward as she kicked at the forgotten womans back.

Janai was good with her aim, if she'd been off by even a little then Lashana's wings would have sliced into the other woman's body. The metallic feathers were beyond razorsharp and it didn't take much to cut with them. The impact against Lashana's back drew a grunt of pain and then instinct took over, sending the treerunner's body into a rolling dive that brought her back to her feet swiftly and facing towards Janai. Mentally Lashana hissed, Prophet was now between her and Yomi.... unacceptable. Snatching a thread of the Weave she moved along the thin binding so she was again between Janai and her daughter.

Janai sighed softly, Lashana was right behind her but if Lashana would attack Janai would see it through her sight, Janai wasn't affraid to keep her back to Lashana for the time. "Please Lashana, let's not fight. If this keeps going I will be forced to hurt you."

"Your the one who threatened to beat the crap out of me remember? Besides, I trust you about as far as I'd trust an Ith'dakar. The only way this fight's going to end is if you leave." She refused to acknowledge the fact that she could lose. And it had to be obvious to Janai that even if she forced Lashana to go to Idlefalls there was no way she could force her to use the Weave. She didn't know who this Dawnsfire was that Prophet had mentioned several times, but if the humans were hiding then why should she reveal them? They'd suffered enough. Still, looking at Janai's back she frowned, her own code of honor didn't like striking from behind unless there was no other choice. Because of it, she didn't strike, though she did have a very clear shot if she chose to throw a dagger at that back.

Janai whispered under her breath "Only way?" Then Janai spun, her body weaving into the air again as tendrils of wind wove out from her limbs as they faded, electricity sparking along them as they reached for the forgotten womans wings. Janai had noticed early on the flaw and large weakness the woman held, it was her wings from the start that opened her up, but if attacked wrong her wings could end the fight just as easily as it could cause her to lose the fight. Janai was taking a gamble, she wasn't sure how the wings would react to the electricity but she really had no other choice... She only prayed there wouldn't be feedback.

Pain was the only sensation that registered as crackling blue energies lit up the cavern, snapping between her wings and down along her spine. It was so unexpected that all Lashana could do was gurgle, violet eyes wide. If she'd reacted swiftly enough she could have grounded herself, letting the electric energies surge into the earth harmlessly. Her breath choked off as all of her nerves screamed at her and then blissful oblivion rose up to swallow her...... despite her fight to the contrary. As she sank to the ground her wings shifted back to their feathered aspect, curling around her like a soft shell as she struck the earth.

Janai walked forward, eyes locked on Yomi as she lipped the words "I'm sorry." Kneeling down next to Lashana she checked her for a pulse which was still there thankfully. Reaching down she pulled Lashana over her shoulder and looked to Yomi. "I have to go to Idlefalls, I'm bringing your mother with me, would you like to come too?"

This would be the scene that Johan and Tiani would walk in on, having missed most of the action.

>"Glad I didn't miss the fun," Johan said with a smirk.

Janai's shoulders droop and she slowly puts Lashana down. "You have got to be kidding me...."
