"Once upon a time," Tyrsis began, still as quiet as she had been when she first sat beside the woman, "there was a little bird. This little bird wanted to fly so badly, but each time she attempted to leave her nest, her mother ushered her away from the edge and scolded her. The mother bird told the little bird how dangerous a place the edge was, how slipping would make you fall and get hurt.

"The little bird didn't care. She wanted to fly. She knew she could fly if only her mother would let her open her wings and jump.

One day, a great eagle came to the little bird while her mother was away. Looking at her, he asked why she was so sad.

"'All I can do is look over the edge.' The little bird told him. 'My mother won't let me fly. She doesn't beleive that I am big enough, or strong enough.'

"'That's nonsense.' The eagle told her. 'Climb on my back and I will take you high into the air. You can see what you are missing by staying in this nest, and if you choose to fly, you can open your wings and the strong winds will carry you higher than you could ever go jumping off of this little branch.'

"The little bird was excited. This great eagle was going to take her to a place she had never been, somewhere she thought she could never possibly reach on her own. The little bird climbed upon the great eagles back and held to him tightly with her little feet. With a great rush of air, the eagle launched himself from the tree, blowing the little nest out of the branches with his powerful wingstrokes. The little bird did not notice, she was too excited watching the ground rush away beneath them. Soon she could not even tell which little tree was her own.

"'You had best climb into my claw.' The great eagle told the little bird. 'The winds become very strong and I would not want you to fall.'

"The little bird did as she was told, the ground was very far away and she had become a little frightened. Perhaps flying was something she was not ready for.

"'Can we go back to my nest now.' She asked the great eagle.

"He looked at her, his great eye gleaming in the sunlight as they broke over the tops of the clouds. 'But you have not flown yet, little bird.' And he released her.

"The little bird tumbled, her wings opening as she tried to stop herself from falling, but the high winds were too strong for the little bird. Scared, she flapped as hard as she could. The great eagle watched as she tumbled towards the ground, diving after her but never catching her. As she hit the ground, he landed beside her.

"'Oh, little bird.' He said. 'Now you have broken your wings. You will never fly again.'

"The little bird cried at her broken wings. 'If I can never fly, I do not want to live.' She told the great eagle. 'The sky was too beautiful for me to never see again.'

"The great eagle smiled and gobbled up the little bird, for great eagles eat little birds. 'That is what I wanted you to say, little bird.' And he flew off to find more little birds to eat."

Tyrsis looked at Emillia, something motherly in her expression as she repeated the story her father had told her so many times. A story about Forbiddion, though it had been a timeline ago.

"In everyone's life they meet a challenge, something far greater than themselves. Some people choose to seek the help of friends or family. Others choose to face their villains alone. You don't lose by walking alone, you simply make things much harder than they need to be." Tyrsis paused. "I'm not here to lecture you, though. I am here to comfort you where no one can see to judge you weak. No one but yourself. And perhaps Forbiddion is not your challenge, but your own self doubt." She shifted her wing and drew Emillia closer, wrapping her arms around the girl. "Part of forgiveness, is forgiving yourself."
