A human messenger skidded to a halt at the devestation before her, eyes wide as the hawk cried above her head and brought her attention back to her goal. Bodies littered the ground around Hogoromo, birds of carrion settling to feast though the blood that marked the ground was still fresh.

Her resolve wavered.

The hawk cried again, startling her from contemplation and mindless awe alike, bringing her to a decision. Dawnsfire, if she were still alive, would be within the walls of that city...

...and someone needed to perform the burial rites.
