Silverfox stayed at the door dutifully, trying her best to ignore the astonished looks the guards that walked the halls gave her. Even blood covered, she looked too young to be a threat in this place. Too many guards for her to cause trouble. Probably just some human's child now without parents. They tried to ignore her as much as she had them. Word had begun straggling in from bands of human women and children that were coming in. Maybe twenty were in the city now, and only two known human cities hand't reported in.

A sense of hollowness had settled into Silverfox's stomach at somepoint during her watch. Whispered words reaching her ears as guard after guard tried to pretend she didn't exist.

It wasn't possible that all of the humans had been systematicly and deliberatly attacked. Was it? She stopped a passing guard, finally acknowledging that Forgotten patrolled these hallways.

"Is it true?" Was all she asked. The guilt on his face answered her question before he could speak and she let go of his arm. He left without a word, continuing his rounds and looking at her as little as possible.

An undeniable sense of guilt had spread across the city. Hogoromo was the only reason such an attack could have ever been possible. If their warriors had never left home, never banded under the Whirlwind King, those places large enough to defend themselves would not have been defenseless. And those small enough would have found aide.

A rumor was spreading in the city, though it had not yet reached the palace. Filanon had not fired the first round of arrows, perhaps Ith'Dakar or drow had.
