Emotionally, I prefer the Christian concept eternal life---I don't want to tolerate this world again in another life.

Rationally, I am afraid reincarnation is more probable. When the brain of a foetus developed to a certain level of complexity, consciousness appears and a new "me" will reside in that brain.

A related interesting topic is the near-death experience (NDE). NDE can be explained by hypoxic or other causes of hallucination in the brain as well as a pointer to afterlife. The precision and accuracy of environmental details described by the subjects while they were "floating on the ceiling" at least suggest the possibility of clear sensory perception without the proper functioning of physical sensory organs. In other words, sensory perception can be independent of physical body. A fascinating inference is that the functions of various sense organs are in fact just to mimick the pre-existing sensory perceptive functions of an individual's "spirit"/consciousness which is independent of the existence of a physical body. Intriguing!
