What do the bigots have against 進步 (advancement, progress)?
Remember the bad old day when women have no status, could be raped within marriage, and couldn't get away from their abusive husbands because the stubborn-male-chauvinistic-Christian-Church was against divorce?
Now, it is not the 'traditionalistic- 「保守」主義 Christians or Christian Church help to save women from that hell hole, and provide them with law that protect women basic human rights (the right to life, the right not to be raped, the right not to be abused), it the the human right activists, humanists, Liberal Christians who human rights before church traditions that help to change the law and make it more progressive.
If it is up to to male-chuvinistic-conservative-Christians, women would not have the protection against rape within marriage.
That is how many come to see 「保守」主義. Many see 「保守」主義 Church as the playground for male chauvinistic sexists, anti-gay-homophobes. These 「保守」主義 Christians would like to have robbed the rights from women, and go back to the day when men could legally rape their women, and beat their children.
Do we really want that as the mainstream for Christ Churuch?
It is quite clear that progress comes from reflective thinking of what is wrong with current situations, and try to change for the better. To stubbornly maintaining the status quo would only bring more sufferings for those who have less powers (Anyone else but the male chauvinistic sexists).
「保守」主義, the obstacle to progress is just another cancer in Christ Church that spread like a disease. No one said cancer is not powerful, as it has the ability to spread wildly and grow in number quickly, but to what end.
