丹麥組成一個「神職法庭」，審理一名自認不信上帝的牧師被停職的案件。高羅斯布牧師（Rev. Thorkil Grosboll）由於公開宣稱自己不相信上帝是天地的創造者，也不相信使徒信經的內容，因此被教會暫停職務。但他不服並入稟法院，司法部遂要成立神職法庭處理。

有關法庭由一位普通法官加上兩位曾受神學訓練的法官所組成，與一般法庭一樣有主控官、辯方和證人。民意調查顯示，四分三被訪者贊成教會對高羅斯布的處分。丹麥信義會是該國的國家教會，全國八成四人口是該會會友。

但高羅斯布亦得到幾方面的支持：一是他所牧養的會眾，二是維護牧師權益的牧師工會，三是一些神學工作者──有分析指高羅斯布的神學思想可稱為「後基督教人文主義」或「理性基督教主義的現代詮釋」，因此有神學工作者擔心教會對高羅斯布的處分會影響教牧日後發表神學見解的言論自由，高羅斯布亦表示：「其實我的罪名是公開講了我經常在神學圈子發表的意見！」
