The usage of the word "real" was intended to separate two types of atheists, one type is not really against a God but against the traditional Judeo-Christian idea of an anthropomorhic authoritative God which oppresses and demands absolute obedience without rational thinking. Because they are not against God, they are not "real" atheists. The other type live as if there were no God, they act as God to rule and control others at their own will. They really reject the existence of God and therefore are "real" atheists.

You are right, "real" atheists are not all "bad" athesists. Some who reject the existence of God do not act as if they themselves are God. So we better refrain from equalising "real" atheists with "bad" atheists. For simplicity, we can just stick with the words "good" and "bad" and my reply can be modified as follows:

The author has separated two types of atheists already:
1. the "good" atheists, who use "atheism" to express rejection of submission to authority (represented by God) without rational thinking, example is the humanists;
2. the "bad" atheists who want to be God, to control or even kill other people, like the totalitarian communists.
