I certainly do remember the "ice box". I was the one to be responsible for keeping it from overflowing day & night! Our pan was very shallow and more than once I had to clean up spills. Eventually, I got it down pretty good. You have to keep your eyes on the whole surface constantly,and go with the flow & make compensations and keep it level. I was just thinking, maybe that's why I was one the very few on board ship who didn't get sea sick in hugh waves...I just "go with thr flow" and I have been aboard many ships in storms.
