What is your point, we're talking about next season, not what happened in the past? We learn from the past and try to avoid those mistakes right? Nobody oiled down the track at an OTS race that I am aware of this year, and I only missed one race. And yes I know who did what this season, where they did it and when. I am not singling out one particular car, why are you? If you have a problem with someone, why not talk to him about it yourself? Or come to me with the issue and we can resolve it like it should be resolved, not by hiding behind veiled comments on a website message forum.

I am sure we are all after the very same goal in the long run, and as a shop owner and crew chief on a car I know exactly the costs involved. The costs of compliance, and non compliance. I would not want to kick the rods in a car under power at 150mph without a diaper. I can't imagine why anyone would subject their hard earned investment to a catastrophic loss without one. An inexpensive diaper is what $150.00 and a high end piece is around $500.00 or so right?

I can point to more than one engine failure in the last few seasons that didn't create a huge mess because a diaper was in place. Imagine how bad it could have been for Dave Smith at Crandall when their engine let go in the burnout and they didn't have a diaper! With that kind of wheel speed, people could have been hurt if the tires got oiled down. That's but one example. Look, I am all for putting on the best show we can for the Fans, the Tracks and ourselves. I will not send someone home if his belts are not up to date, I am not the babysitter here. However, I will not let a car go down the track if it is obviously questionable whether or not it can endanger another car beside him. But, I didn't see one single car this season that fits that category. Not one. So where's the problem?

Go back and read my comments... all of them. Don't conveniently pick and choose comments that fit an arguable point because you aren't sure what's going to happen. It's simple. If a guy comes without his chassis cert, outdated belts, etc... that's something that we'll take up at that time. Period. And no, I'm not going to be looking at fire suit tags. It isn't my ass sitting in the seat, if someone wants to wear outdated equipment it's not for me to decide if that guy races or not... it's for the Track Tech inspector to decide if that car can run or not.

If someones car does not meet the requirements laid out in the rules, I'll bring it up and simply ask why and we'll go from there. I am pretty danged sure anyone who runs sub 5.0 seconds really is concerned with his/her safety. Once again, I am not anyone's baby sitter. But, I am going to do my best to ensure that we don't oil down a track or endanger the car or the life of another racer because someone is not serious about what we do and the speeds we do it at. Anything other than that is up to the tracks. Yeah I know it says Outlaw Top Sportsman, but that doesn't mean we aren't going to do the right thing guys.

Look, you guys can pick this apart all you want. If you would pick up the phone and call me you would probably learn a heck of a lot more than you would ever learn here on the web. I very much do appreciate everyones interest. But for the life of me, I cannot understand why SAFETY of all things seems to have struck a nerve with some of you guys. I'm not here to make anyone angry, not here to babysit, not here to play games, not here to cater to any one teams wants or needs. I am here to help this class grow... and if you want to be part of the solution that's great! I can only do a good job for the class if I know what everyone wants and needs and if you know me then you know I take what everyone says into careful consideration.

What have you got to loose.... call me. I want to discuss this with you.

P.S. The only calls I've received about this is folks wondering what all the fuss is about.
