Hi Mikki, I am not sure how to take your reply to my post. Nancy Pelosi is the new Democratic House Speaker . Nancy is the first woman to hold the office. Nancy supported the elimination of tax breaks for American oil companies and levying new fees and taxes on the same. Where do you think the oil companies are going to make up its losses? And as those congress staff who opposes those measures say, the foreign oil companies are going to exploit this to their advantage. It will only cost the consumers in the end. I think that if they levy import tariffs on foreign oil companies will keep a fair playing field that won’t encourage or give excuse for the American oil companies to raise gas prices at the pump. <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2007-01-18-energybill_x.htm?csp=34">http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2007-01-18-energybill_x.htm?csp=34
</a>

I have not been able to buy gas since before Christmas 2006. I was not aware that gas prices had fallen to $1.89. According to the Energy Information Administration, the average price for regular gas is $222.90 on 1/15/07, which is much better than 3 bucks per gallon. <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/dnav/pet/pet_pri_gnd_dcus_nus_w.htm">http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/dnav/pet/pet_pri_gnd_dcus_nus_w.htm</a>

I still don't think conglomerates should get tax breaks. But a tariff on foriegn companies will give them less excuse to raise the gas prices.

I guess taking a deep breath is always a good thing to do anyway.

Hugs & Luv,
RICHARD
