I think I'd rather deal with depression than a lost limb, speaking for myself. I know I'd rather have depression than any kind of cancer. I don't have the answers for you Dave, I agree that meds don't help some of us, which is frustrating, and therapy is more treatment than cure. It helps you understand your depressed feelings better but it doesn't make them disappear.

The best thing may be to not try so hard to "figure it out." Just take one day at a time, enjoy the good moments and endure the difficult ones. Try to create as much beauty as you can in your life. Give something to others. For example, do you do any volunteer work? I am being trained to volunteer at our local animal shelter and I'm hoping that will raise my spirits when my days get lonely.

That is the best answer I can come up with to your question, "How can you muster up a fight against mental disorders especially depression?" I think you just have to keep going as best you can. Having a support network helps. This site is quiet but there are plenty of active depression support sites online, some with chats where you can talk to someone practically 24/7 if you need to.
