At least you had dreams and expectations. I never had a clue what I wanted from life and I still don't. When I had a chance to want the white picket fence I was too brainwashed by "women's lib" to think the way to happiness was to "have it all." And when you choose a partner who is not a good provider and have kids with him, you are stuck in being "Superwoman" even though by then you realize you'd have been happier with a little less on your plate.

I'd love to hear more about what your dreams were and where you thought you'd be. For me, like Rhonda, the future was murky and I took one step at a time, leaping and hoping the net would appear. Maybe there are one or two things you could salvage from your dreams? Not the whole technicolor movie, but a scene or two?

One important thing to remember is that most people don't actualize their youthful hopes and dreams. Work and life take us in unexpected directions, things we can't control throw monkey wrenches in the machinery and divert our course.

So they say happiness is not having what you want, it's wanting what you have. Blooming where you are planted. I try to remember that myself, since I am in one hour at a time mode right now. And I also feel overwhelmed by all the things on my plate right now.

Hugs,

Liz
