My mom has rheumatoid arthritis really bad. It is crippled her hands, is in her feet, ankles and knees. She is only 59. She is currently on a medication called Humira....it is a shot she takes every two weeks, and it has slowed the progression of the disease. Autoimmune diseases run in my family. RA, and lupus being the main ones.

If you take care of yourself by exercising, and seeing a rheumatologist, you can postpone the effects of RA. And there are varying degrees of disability with it too. Some get it all over, some just in the hands. You never know. Educate yourself on the subject, it will make you feel better.
