Subject: Vale Michael Ryan

I was shocked to read on the NRL website that Michael Ryan passed away today aged 60.

Michael was a touch judge or in goal touch judge in each 1st grade Grand Final between 1986 and 1990

Michael was someone I looked up to when I was a young 16 year old junior referee in the old Western Suburbs district Junior league that covered the Ashfield to Lidcombe areas. He as well as good friend Michael Stone were both two guys who helped me thru the junior ranks and made a big impression on me in the 15 years or so that I refereed Junior League footy

I'm sure Michael will be sorely missed by everyone in the referee and rugby league community.
