Jon looked up as some one else walked in, blinking to see Sara. She looked so much more grown up than the other girls, beautiful and mature. She didn't look seventeen. She looked like a woman. He shook his head away and looked away to clear his mind, looking back in time to see her smile at him, returning it before moving on though he continued to watch her out of the corner of his eye.

James hadn't wasted time in finding another girl. No way he was going to let every one think Sara breaking up with him bothered him. It did, but not in the way they would think it did. He just didn't like being rejected. Who did? But his was for more selfish reasons. His date, Kimmi, was the head of the varsity cheerleaders. She was blonde and beautiful and would do just about anything to be more popular, including doing anything her star quarter back boyfriend told her to. He'd spent the past few nights comforting his bruised ego with her. But when he saw Sara walk in he felt the anger well up over again, mainly at the fact that he knew that she looked way better than Kimmi. But no way he was going to admit that.
James immediately started up about her, Kimmi joining in as the group they were worth knit-picked at everything about her. There really wasn't much. Sara looked perfect and she was a good person. But that just made people dislike her more. People looked for the faults in others to make themselves feel better. He knew she was here alone, and doubted anyone would dare ask her to dance, especially with him here. So when he saw Michael Fitzgerald, one of the star soccer players, ask Sara to dance and saw her accept, Jame's eyes narrowed. Michael, or Mike as everyone called him, was tall and graceful with soft brown hair and soft brown eyes and a soft kind voice, all the girls thought he was adorable. James pulled Kimmi out onto the dance floor, dancing them towards the two, Kimmi seemed to pick up on what was about to happen and went with it. "So Sara, I see you've already found some one else to keep you company in that big empty house of yours. I don't blame you, I'd need to feel some one cared too with a father like yours." James said smoothly, his hands low on Kimmi's silk-clad hips. The cheerleader cooed a laugh at her boyfriend's words, her arms around his neck.
