Megan B was at NO and I spoke with her. She is coaching Ashley M, a new TEEN USA contestant. She was doing her hair and makeup and she also wore Megan's TEEN USA competition gown. It looked great on Ashley by the way! Megan did express interest in competing at LA USA next year...even tho she expressed how much she loves coaching now. She has done a great job with Ashley. They are not related....even tho they look like they could be sisters! Teen USA was Ashley's very first pageant and she broke into the TOP 10. I encouraged Megan herself to compete at LA USA this coming year. She is breath-takingly beautiful! She has a very pleasant personality and has grown into a beautiful young woman. I have seen her grow from a young teen to this extraordinary young woman. She is a "total package" and needs to compete at LA USA 2009! Megan, if you read this board.....you NEED to compete. YOU would be a wonderful LA MISS USA!!

  • I was under the impression that interview was worth the same value as swimsuit and evening gown at Miss Louisiana. As a former pageant director, I believe it is the director's discression as to how much value each category is worth. If she wants interview to be 50%, she has the right to do so. And if contestants dont like that scoring system, they do not have to compete in her pageant. To say Jamie Roddy will not do well at Miss Louisiana is a bit naive. I've been fortunate to judge her before and I think she has a solid interview. Her swimsuit body is quite good at this time. I will say that I sometimes find her evening gowns a little off the mark though. But that is subjective and easy to remedy. Merrill is a great competitor in this system, one of my favorites... But I dont think we should take anything away from Miss Roddy for a job VERY well done. -- RUSSIA, 07:39:42 12/02/08 Tue
  • Re: Touche, Russia. Pageants are the opinions of judges on that particular day! Merrill and Jamie are good friends, so to have them compete together is always hard to cheer for, because they are both awesome! Congratulations girls! -- Fat Cat!, 08:00:49 12/02/08 Tue
  • Russia you are correct that for prelims at LA USA that interview is same as swim & gown but not for finals. The only items that are "scored" on finals night are swimwear &gown, on stage interview & question is not. They tell everyone in orientation, T15 compete in swimwear & the judges use the mention system to select 10 for gown, then 10 do gown & the mention system is used again for selecting the T5. Then the T5 speak, after they have all spoken they are given a final ballot for ranking & when they are doing the spotlight they rank. Interview does not count, except for in the judges mind, on finals night. While you are correct girls can pick the prelim they enter, if directors are going to call themselves a prelim, then they should try to be a much like the state pageant as they can be. Using a different scoring system and not having all of the phases of competition that state has would seem to lend itself to picking a girl who will not do as well at state. -- Jamie will do just fine at state., 15:01:09 12/02/08 Tue
