Subject: You are correct and I know that Shelly is trying to make this as nice of an event as she can. I hope everyone will come and watch this weekend. Good luck to Shelly and all of the ladies competing
In reply to: The Optimist 's message, "In all honesty, it must be very difficult to obtain judges. If judges are knowledgeable and well-versed in the USA system, then they are probably aware of or have a slight connection to at least one if not all of the contestants. On the other hand, if they are completely unaware of the contestants, and thus assumed to be completely impartial, they are ridiculed for having little to no knowledge of the system. I'm not saying that the proposed panel is perfect, but honestly, it seems like a no win situation for any director UNLESS they spend the money to bring in out of state judges. With a handful of contestants paying approx. $200 to enter, transportation of out-of-state judges doesn't seem like a realistic expense to undertake. Which leads to a question: as a contestant, would you pay $400-$500 entry fees for prelims to allow for the director to pay transportation (flight/mileage) and multi-night accommodations for out-of-state judges?" on 12:53:41 11/16/08 Sun
