Subject: differences between the DIY's and the saloon

i knew in the market there are sales of DIY hair straightening creams and machines.. those can save you a lot.
well i know there are co's and cons'. so what is the difference between these DIY's and the saloon...
is the effect going to be the same? or saloons uses better or different chemicals ?
