This update/retraction from Chris M., for which he deserves thanks. Perhaps the writer of the original (and evidently fabricated) posting has something against the Cottonpatch event, the City of Greenville, or just, more abstractly, "accuracy" or "responsible speech"! Let's hope that one ill-considered rant doesn't jeopardize an important cycling event. Sorry I passed this along (and I'll bet Chris is too!).

Sorry--the writer of the original e-mail got the facts wrong. All the city did was to add two streest to a 1993 ordinance that prohibits the riding of bikes on sidwalks fo certain streets in the conjested downtown area. All the rest was false.
