Some assert that this dead void as it has been called is the goal of many buddhists. Then we have Vivekananda saying that India fell due to colonization due to too much of this approach perhaps partly stemming from simplified buddhism, too many un active "sadhus" as well as caste misunderstanding. No one but kshatriyas would fight and there were not enough to defend the land.
