The girl walking with Ariel spoke for the first time since they left Noyoma behind. The lake glittered not far from them, a brightness in a world that seemed to be filled with gloom.

"Lady do you know what I am? Besides human I mean. The lady Noyoma told me not that long ago, and told me that I could, if your willing that is, to help you. She said I'm something called a catalyst, a person that can bring abilities like Foresight or Telekinetic abilities to the use of the person. If the person already has the ability but not conscious control I'm supposed to be able to help them learn control. Do you want me to do that for you?"

The girl looked at Ariel inquiringly, slightly surprised that Ariel hadn't even asked her name yet.
