He locked onto her mind, and that was all he needed. He felt her fear, then felt as it started to fade, her mind retreating into sleep. It didn't matter if she was awake or asleep. All it took was one call for him to home onto her.

"Raste Noctur Shadium."

His eyes glowed with a coppery light and his body fell slightly transparent.

"Transortpent."

He growled and disappeared into the shadows, melding into them as though they were one.

The next thing heard was the death cry, a shrill catlike yowl, the limp body of a catlike creature flying through the air and shattering on a tree. It wasn't Miyu, but one his breatheren.

Sweet was the essence of a Shadow watcher. He felt the minds of all of them now. The rust colored plume on his head turn black and transparent, marking him with the power of a shadow watcher. And he could now move through the shadowed as they did, and knew exactly where Valenthe was.

That was exactly where he was headed.
