I'm seriously enjoying this. AMC, too, though not as much. McCrapfest's hamfistedness gets in the way of much fun on that show, but OLTL is turning around nicely.

I can hate characters while enjoying the actors. Not like recent regimes where I hated the characters and wanted to beat the actors with a stick.

It's not all stuporcouples all the time. The triangles aren't lopsided, and nobody's being decimated to prop anyone else up - if anything, the characters just keep getting stronger.

The stories mesh with each other - no more "umbrella stories" that go nowhere and involve 4 pet characters. If I watch all week, I see everyone doing things it makes sense for them to do. Even fucking Renee.

True, nothing's reaching through my screen and grabbing me. But, right now, the only thing that comes close to making me run screaming from the room is the All Detergent Wench.
