When someone is always over the top, when you KNOW that no matter what the character is going to do something stupid and lose it all, when you know that the character can never have anything of what he wants, and will always have tons of what he doesn't... why watch? Really, WGAD? The few that call it sweet suffering, delicious torture? Pffft, it's unviable as hell, moreso it's just boring as hell.
KDP has never needed anyone to prop her, in fact, they've thrown her into the most unviable storylines possible. I think she deserves a storyline that's romantic and fun and interesting. Something her fans could actually enjoy, as she has a LOT of them. Todd deserves a storyline where he's not a moron, where he's smart enough to actually follow through. Wacked that this plan is, it seems to be working to a certain extent and it's interesting, at least to a lot of people. Yesterday kind of said it all to me. The boards were mostly dead, the post that we did see were mostly folks bitching about how boring it all was. The day before was a Talker/Starr/Blair day, even MD was a rocking, the other boards were too, not just the Knoll.
TSJ is a good recast, and he's not Blair's "buttmole", he's Todd and before that he was Walker and even then he had the board abuzz because he's a very interesting actor. Kassie's had buttmoles before, the last one was Laurence Lau, and he wanted to be her buttmole, because he and TPTB felt that if he was Blair's buttmole, someone might enjoy him and like him for a change, or at least watch him. They didn't, thus...
Anyway, Todd needed to evolve, because psycho's generally go the way of Mitch Lawrence. As good as Roscoe Born was, as much as I loved him, Mitch was an over the top bore. That's pretty much what Todd had turned into until his last days, when Griffith stepped and attempted to repair the character. The change was great and it was welcome. The problem is that Roger left, so Griffith will do it with a recast, and I'm not going to complain. Watching crazy impotent Todd with his head up his ass during TnT while TeUGH screeched and attempted to save his soul, was about as exciting as watching paint dry, the only upside of it was that he didn't act like Jerry Lewis, the last time was the same story with Jerry Lewis thrown in for yucks...
Neither were viable, nor could the average viewer find a way to relate. Writing for the fringe is a loser proposition and it seems to me that TPTB have finally bought a clue. BTW, the fringe would BE those folks who think he should never grow, got off on fantasizing about Lestat, even though Lestat had been deader than a doornail for 8 or 9 YEARS. It sucks to try and root for a character destined to kick his own ass, at a certain point the viewer feels like a sucker, and that's not good business.
Time for Todd to step up like a man, if Howarth wasn't going to do it, then Malone and Griffith loved the character enough to chance a recast in a very unfriendly environment. I love them for it. As for TSJ, I think the man has brass balls, to go for it, anything less than brass balls to the wall and he'd fail. He's not failing, outside of those "I only watch for Todd, I don't GAFF about his women" circles, he's a success, and that's fine with me. WTF would TPTB give a damn about a bunch who only watch ONE character in ONE storyline and spend their days, screeching and bitching about his costars the evil writers always having him get his ass kicked, when it's obvious that's the only thing that they'll accept... see Todd kicking his own ass as keeping him "angsty". There's no logic to it, IMHO, and there never has been.
Here's to Todd Lord, they should have went there a long time ago.

>>The past weeks have really confirmed in my head that
