Subject: Question from I See Satan Fall

In the later chapters of I See Satan Fall, Girard makes an assertion about the Western vision of Christ's Passion that prompted some questions in my mind:

"Medieval and modern theories of redemption all look in the direction of God for the causes of the Crucifixtion: God's Honor, God's justice, even God's anger, must be satisfied. These theories don't succeed because they don't seriously look in the direction where the answer must lie: sinful humanity, human relations, mimetic contagion, which is the same thing as Satan" (150).

When Dr. Jackson explain Anselm's Cur Deos Homo to us in class, the idea of "God's Honor" needing to be restored, which Girard here refutes as insufficient or a misdirected answer, seemed directly connected to man's sin. It seems that false distinctions are being made...Does Girard define sinfulness as just mimetic contagion? Is there no relation between God and man's sin?
